Look what I have.....

Well, it's not really mine, I just get to have it in my house this weekend. It's a Canon Digital Rebel XT EOS. I don't know if I got all those letters in the right order, but it sounds good!! The camera belongs to Bevan's work, and it's his job to figure it all out over the weekend (good freakin luck!!!) It's great for us though, because we have been really wanting a new camera, and this was one of the models we were looking at, so we get a chance to try it out and get a feel for it to see if we like it before we buy one. One of my concerns about this camera is that it's a Canon, and everytime I get my picture taken with a Canon camera, I blink!!! I know, I sound CRAZY!!, but it's true. So, much to my dismay, I will have to have my picture taken a number of times this weekend to see if the theory holds true for this fancy-schmancy cameral as well. (I really hate having my picture taken, so I'm not looking forward to it). I found this great website that offers a free online photo course for beginners, so I'm going to try it out and see how it goes, I'm super excited.

In other news, yes, it's been 2 weeks since my last blog, but I have some good excuses.... for one, blogger was down the last time I went to post. When it finally let me in I typed up my post, added pictures, and then when I went to post it, the site went down again and everything got lost!!!! ggggrrrrrrrrrrrr. Needless to say, I walked away from the computer for the rest of the day. I haven't spent much time on the computer in the last couple of days. We started working at our new office on the 6th, and everything is computerized there, so I really don't want to even see computers when I get home.

Last weekend was my friend Denise's wedding in Cape Breton. It was great fun. I got to see my good old dental hygiene friends. The driving sucked, but it was worth it. Here's a picture of me, Alanna, Susanne and Denise. Denise looked great in her dress.

I updated our wedding blog today as well. We've now confirmed our ceremony and reception locations and our DJ. Not a lot else going on in terms of planning lately.

Lobster Carnival is getting close. I only have 2 weeks of work left, and then I'm on vacation for 2 weeks. Carnie will be great this year. Mel missed last year, so I'm sure she'll have to have twice as much fun this year to make up for it.

Anyways, I'm gonna get going now. It's waaaay past my bedtime and I have to teach card class at 10 tomorrow morning. I'm really looking forward to a weekend at home this weekend, and hopefully I'll have time to post more sometime over the weekend.

More Fun to Come

If the old saying that blondes have more fun is true, there should be lots of fun in my future - I'm a blonde again. Got my hair cut and colored this evening. I love going to my salon, love sitting there and chatting and drinking coffee. The woman who did my hair is getting married next Saturday, so we talked about all kinds of wedding stuff.

I got a phone call from my friend Denise tonight, too. She is getting married next Saturday (June 10th) in Cape Breton. I'm sooo excited to go and see all the girls from hygiene school who are going to be there. Hopefully I'll have some pictures to post afterwards. I have to remember my camera though, I've developed a bad habit of forgetting to take it when I go places.

Books, Books, Books

Well, I must admit, reading hasn't been high on my list of priorities lately. Reading seems to be one of those things I do in spurts. If I'm really into a good book, I do nothing but read for days. Lately, I've been really into scrapbooking, so reading has taken a backseat. I do kind of have 2 books on the go however:

  • I'm just under half way through "The Way the Crow Flies" by Ann-Marie MacDonald. I read "Fall on Your Knees" by the same author and thought it was great. I've had a slightly harder time getting into this one, but I refuse to give up on it!

  • I've just started "Shopaholic and Sister" by Sophie Kinsella. I'm really only a couple of pages into this one, but there is no doubt in my mind it will be a great book. I've read all of the other books from the shopaholic series. If you haven't read them, check them out, they are among the best books I've ever read.

There are soooo many books I've read in the past that I would highly recommend:

  • Anything from the "Harry Potter" series.
  • "She's Come Undone" and "I Know This Much is True" by Wally Lamb. These were both Oprahs Book Club selections in the past.
  • "Summer Sisters" by Judy Blume. Yes, I believe she is a childrens author, but this book was written for an older audience. It has a couple of weird parts, but what book doesn't? It was great - a great summer read.
  • "Angels and Demons" and "The DaVinci Code" by Dan Brown. Two more really great books.

I do hope to tackle "Memoirs of a Geisha" as soon as I get a chance. I hear it's pretty good as well. Please post any other suggestions for great books in the comments section, I'd love to check them out!!
